When I lived in LA, the Silver Lake and Venice locations of Chicago-based Intelligentsia opened and became the city’s first interaction with high-quality, craft coffee. Each outpost has been designed to reflect its surrounding community, which makes them fit right in. The Silver Lake CoffeeBar typifies the hip East Side crowd with artists and creatives. The brand has been doing its fresh roasted coffee thing for 22 years now and still totally holds its own.
